Will FSU continue to respond to adversity as they have done throughout the season?

The number seven Florida State Seminoles are back in action this afternoon to play their second game against the USF Bulls this season. The last time these two teams faced off, the Noles came out on top 6-2 in Tampa. Four FSU batters recorded two hits (Lodise, M. Williams, C. Williams, and Cal Fisher), and Evan Chrest was still on the mound. This FSU looks a little different now, as they're dealing with some injuries across the board, but this hasn't stopped them before.

Throughout the season, the Noles have responded to adversity time and time again.

After starting the season 15-0, FSU dropped their first game to the Florida Gators, where the Noles only put up two runs. They followed this with a sweep of the BC Eagles in their first conference series of the young season and outscored the Eagles 28-4.

The very next week, the Noles took a pretty bad midweek loss to Mercer, who has now defeated FSU in their last two opportunities. This game had fans flaming the midweek pitching staff and sparked a lot of questions surrounding the bullpen arms. The Noles followed this effort by defeating the Miami Hurricanes and clinching the season series against them in back-to-back seasons.

Most recently, we saw the Noles drop three out of four in their weekend series against Wake Forest and their final game against the Gators last week. Again, questions began to arise about how good this pitching staff actually is and about the bats remaining consistent enough to make another trip to Omaha.

As they have done all season, FSU responded once again by sweeping the 25th-ranked team in the country, Virginia Tech. Throughout the entire weekend, the FSU arms allowed just four runs and the bats produced 19.

In their last 17 games, FSU will play a three-weekend series against top-25 opponents (Louisville, Clemson, and UNC). It would be great for this team to start seeing some of their banged-up batters and pitchers make their return to the baseball diamond and help this team find some increased consistency.

Look for FSU to continue their winning streak tonight against the Bulls and keep responding to the highs and lows of this season.
