The Noles look to remain undefeated in their first ever series against Georgetown

After a gritty 9-6 victory over the JU Dolphins on Wednesday, FSU is back at Howser to take on a team for the first time in its historic program.

The Georgetown Hoyas are coached by Edwin Thompson. Thompson is now in his fifth season at the helm and has led the Hoyas to recent success. Georgetown has racked up three consecutive 30+ win seasons for the first time in school history and finished with its highest RPI ever a season ago (58).

The Hoyas return 22 players from their 2024 roster, so they have a team full of guys with experience and chemistry.

Batting Comparison
FSU
Alex Lodise and Gage Harrelson lead the way for the Noles, both batting a .417 ERA through 8 games. Faurot came down to earth against JU but is still batting .333 Lodise and Faruot lead the team in HRs, tied at three. Lodise has been hammering balls, batting with a .722 SLG%.

Max Williams and Cal Fisher continue to adjust to this new season. Fisher is now batting at .296, and for the first time this season, Max Williams is hitting .300.

Not sure if he'll play yet or not this afternoon, but freshman Brody DeLamielleure hit the first home run of his college career, a three-run bomb that FSU needed to pull away from the Dolphins.

As a team, FSU has:
  • 78 hits (2nd in ACC)
  • .340 AVG (3rd in ACC)
  • 11 HR (4th in ACC)
  • 68 RBI (4th in ACC)
  • 18-21 on SB (3rd in ACC)
Georgetown
Although the Hoyas have lost their last three games, they have had some positives on the batting side of things.

Jeremy Sheffield was named to the Big East Honor Roll last week for his stellar play. He currently leads the team with a .400 AVG and produced a slash line of .438/.526/.563 across four games last week. He totaled 7 hits, 7 RBIs, and a triple in a very successful week.

Noah Leib and Dylan Larkins had a great weekend series against Sacred Heart, as well. Leib finished the weekend with a slash line of .364/.364/.455 with 4 RBI and a double. Larkins contributed a .333/.500/.333 to the Hoyas. Watch for these two to try and carry over their success from the weekend.

The Hoyas are an extremely aggressive base running team. They have 32 stolen bases, which ranks third nationally. Watch for the Noles to try and limit Georgetown's base running opportunities and avoid making errors.

As a team, the Hoyas bat:
  • .264 AVG (4th in Big East)
  • 70 hits (2nd in Big East)
  • 55 RBI (2nd in Big East)
  • 50 BB (Most in Big East)
